A word from the owner, Don A Knight:

There have been several rumors circulating around that I would personally like to address:

1) The closing of the track:

CVMS in Cottonwood is in no danger of closing.  I am in complete compliance with our lease and even the insurance provisions.  We are current on all monies owed to Mr. Green and look forward to continue working with him in the future.

2) Haleburg:

Haleburg is not going to open this year.  Not by myself nor any other party.

3)  Tires:

I sold the tires at costs on Saturday to try and show the drivers that we understand  that they have endured and accrued costs during the two weeks of rain outs that they were not able to over come.  In an effort to assist the drivers we sold all tires in stock at cost.  That is the only reason we did that.

4)  Purses:

There are a lot of complaints about the purses.  We paid $5800 in total purses Saturday night.  Last year out entire purse was $6000.  The four cylinder pro class only had 6 cars this past Saturday.  We are running 7 classes of cars each Saturday night, anyone in racing can tell you that we should only be racing 5. However, since almost all the classes signed in full classes in the points, we said we would try it for another year.

There are no set or guaranteed purses.  I go to the gate every Saturday during intermission, i see how much the gates brought in, take the helps money off the top and then pay out what is left.  We can only pay out what comes in.  We have asked the drivers for help.  We even gave out over 500 passes to try and bring new people in.  Naturally, we had someone who comes each week make copies of an email and entire families who are there week in and week out were using the passes.  This defeated the entire purpose of the free passes.

5)  My attitude:

There has always been and probably always be complaints about my attitude.  I work hard trying to ensure a safe and clean facility is provided for the racers and the fans.  I read magazines and websites and talk to other tracks to ensure that our purses are fair and competitive with other tracks.  I sacrifice time with my family to ensure that the small details are covered.  I lose sleep trying to figure out how to make it better.  I really want to have a safe, competitive and family friendly environment to have old fashion Saturday night racing.  But for all the work and sacrifices i make i have more and more people griping and complaining. After a while it wears on you.  I am at that point of exhaustion.  But it is my goal for every driver and fan to enjoy and desire our facility for just plain down home pure dirt track racing.
